Brad Chilcott AM
Brad has worked for more than 15 years driving systemic change for disadvantaged people in a range of roles and sectors including migration; multiculturalism; family, domestic and sexual violence; Australian international aid; public education; early childhood development; mental health; social housing, LGBTIQ+ rights and inter-faith engagement. He has a reputation for taking on hard issues and delivering outcomes through a partnership approach including people with lived experience, communities, practitioners, experts and decision makers.
Brad was the convenor of the South Australian Thrive By Five Alliance, the Queensland Thrive By Five Alliance – resulting in the shaping of and commitment to over $500m of investment in the State Government’s Putting Queensland Kids First initiative - and the national Father’s Thrive By Five Alliance, uniting more than 60 organisations to campaign for universal access to quality early education as part of a fully stitched together early childhood development system.
He also convenes Port Adelaide Football Club’s Multicultural Power Cup Committee and is the strategic consultant for the Activate Australia’s Skills campaign (www.activateaustralia.org.au) working with SSI and over 120 campaign partner organisations to reform the skills and qualifications recognition system for migrants living in Australia.
He is the former Executive Director of White Ribbon Australia, a movement to end men’s violence against women and advance gender equality, leading the movement from the 2020 relaunch until Dec 2021 including co-leading the Queensland Coercive Control Network, a key component of the advocacy campaign that led to historic whole-of-system reform for women’s safety in Queensland backed by $688m of State Government investment.
Brad is the founder of Welcoming Australia, a national organisation cultivating a culture of welcome for people seeking asylum, refugees and other new arrivals to Australia.
